About the Founders

Dig South was founded by Stanfield and Sunny Gray to build better opportunities for their kids – Stella and Garrison. The mission was clear, the South should be a viable place for our kids – and everyone's – to launch and scale a startup, just like Silicon Valley, Boston, NYC and other tech hotbeds. But you've got to pitch in, build an ecosystem and do something about it. Thus, Dig South was born.  

Named one of Time magazine’s “31 People Changing the South,” Stanfield is a Liberty Fellow in the Aspen Global Leadership Network, and has 3x been named one of Charleston’s “50 Most Influential Leaders" by Charleston Business magazine. His company, Gray Matters, consults on business strategy and growth with a focus on AI-related projects. Gray is also the COO of Moveflow Technologies, a mobility-intelligence and data analytics company mapping the global flow of anything that moves.

Sunny is the founder of multiple successful businesses, including her current passion, Essentially Charleston, a curated collection of gift boxes and products from Charleston makers, artisans and designers. She was also the founder of The Little Black Book for Every Busy Woman, a referral-based directory franchised to 8 cities.
